At its annual leadership meeting on May 31, the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) Plastics Division welcomed its new Chair of the Plastics Division Leadership Council (PDLC), Michael Burt, Vice-President and Global Director, Climate and Energy, Dow Chemical Canada, and Amir Karim, President, Polykar, as Vice-Chair. Mr. Karim will also be serving on the CIAC Board of Directors as a Plastics Division representative.

“I have worked with CIAC for many years in many different capacities including on the Board of Directors. It is a very active organization, and I am always happy to work with the team,” said Mr. Burt. “I am honoured to be nominated to lead the Plastics Division Leadership Council and I look forward to the work to be done over the next year.”

“We are so pleased to have Michael lead PDLC, as he has such a deep knowledge of the plastics industry in Canada and of CIAC. Especially in a time of such rapid change for the industry, I know that Michael will be a key voice for the sector,” said Bob Masterson, President and CEO of CIAC.

“I am also pleased to welcome Amir as the new Vice-Chair and Plastics Division representative on our Board of Directors. Polykar is at the forefront of transforming our industry for a circular economy. His contributions will be important as CIAC looks to accelerate this transformation.”

CIAC would also like to thank outgoing Chair and CIAC Board Plastic Division representative, Magali Depras, Chief Strategy and CSR Officer of TC Transcontinental, for all her work on PDLC. Her leadership was vital to the important accomplishments of the Plastics Division last year.
