TRANSCAER® Safety Train

The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) is excited to announce the launch of the new TRANSCAER Safety Train, CCPX 911. This innovative training tank car will serve as a “classroom on wheels,” traveling across Canada, stopping in communities in Ontario, Quebec, the prairie region, and returning to British Columbia in the fall. The TRANSCAER Safety Train aims to enhance awareness of rail safety and emergency response related to the transportation of dangerous goods.

Starting the journey on the west coast, the official launch event will be held in Vancouver on March 25-26, 2025, at CN Cargoflo, located at 649 Industrial Ave. Industry leaders, emergency responders, media and government officials will be in attendance for a series of hands-on tours and interactive demonstrations.
This vital initiative is meant to educate our communities and share current safety best practices in proactive preparedness for transportation incidents involving dangerous goods. The Safety Train was realized through a collaborative efforts of industry, railways, and Transport Canada.

About TRANSCAER
The Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response (TRANSCAER®) initiative was started in Canada in 1985 by the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC). Today, it’s led by CIAC and the Railway Association of Canada (RAC).

TRANSCAER exists to make sure that communities are informed about the products being moved through their area by road and rail, and what measures are in place to ensure their safe transportation.
TRANSCAER members work with municipal officials, emergency responders, and residents along transportation routes, to assist them in developing and evaluating their community emergency response plans. TRANSCAER also hosts dozens of outreach events across Canada each year.
