CIAC Honours Ron Koniuch, Recognizes Board Appointments

The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) is recognizing the dedicated service and contributions of Ron Koniuch, President of CCC Sulphur Products, following the conclusion of his term on CIAC’s Board of Directors.

Ron joined the Board in 2017 and has been a respected industry leader, trusted advisor, and passionate advocate for Responsible Care® throughout his tenure. Over eight years of Board service, he helped guide the Association through a period of significant change while consistently championing the principles of safety, sustainability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Building on the leadership and guidance of those who came before him, Ron embraced and advanced the principles of Responsible Care®, carrying forward a tradition of industry stewardship that traces back to pioneers such as Jean Bélanger, widely regarded as the godfather of Responsible Care® in Canada. More than an advocate, Ron lived and breathed Responsible Care® throughout his career. His unwavering commitment to continuous improvement, community trust, employee well-being, and environmental responsibility helped strengthen the program’s impact across the sector and ensured its values remained central to CIAC’s work.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ron Koniuch for his outstanding service and unwavering dedication to the CIAC Board over eight years,” said Michel Brassard, Chair of the CIAC Board of Directors. “Ron has been a guiding force in our efforts to promote safety, sustainability, and innovation across the chemistry sector. He didn’t just champion Responsible Care® — he embodied it. His leadership was grounded in its principles every day, and he leaves a legacy of integrity, collaboration, and meaningful progress that will continue to inspire our work for years to come.”

In addition to his contributions at the Board level, Ron served on the Responsible Care Committee following CIAC’s governance renewal in 2020 and played a leadership role within the Ontario Leadership Group. He consistently brought thoughtful insight, practical industry experience, and a strong commitment to collaboration and responsible industry leadership.

“Ron’s leadership has had a lasting impact on both CIAC and our industry,” said Greg Moffatt, President and CEO of CIAC. “Throughout his time on the Board, he has been a trusted voice, a strong advocate for Responsible Care®, and a leader who consistently demonstrated the values that define our industry. We are grateful for his service, his mentorship, and the example he has set for current and future leaders.”

At its May 28, 2026 meeting in Edmonton, Alberta, CIAC’s Board of Directors formally recognized Ron’s contributions and presented him with a commemorative plaque in appreciation of his years of service to the Association and Canada’s chemistry and plastics sector.
