CIAC and members at Plast-Ex 2021

November 9-11, the CIAC Plastics Division took part in the Plast-EX conference in Toronto as part of the larger Advanced Design & Manufacturing Expo. CIAC had a booth in the exhibition area of the conference where the Plastics Division met attendees and highlighted products and sustainability efforts from Plastics Division members and CIAC staff were featured in two separate panels: A Circular Economy for Plastics and its Pivotal Role in a Net-Zero Future with Elena Mantagaris, Vice President, CIAC Plastics Division as moderator, and; Strengthening Canada’s Manufacturing Sector: What’s Next featuring Bob Masterson, President and CEO of CIAC as a panelist. 

Anna Rajkovic, Circular Economy Market Manager, NOVA Chemicals; Mike Burt, Vice President and Global Director Climate and Energy, Dow; Charles O’Hara, Director, Resource Recovery Policy Branch, Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks; and Elena Mantagaris, Vice President, CIAC Plastics Division as moderator for the panel discussion: A Circular Economy for Plastics and its Pivotal Role in a Net-Zero Future.

Neil Cools-Lartigue, Account Manager, IPL Inc. was on hand to speak with attendees at Plast-EX 2021 in Toronto.  
Felix Liu and Lucie Li, Co-Founders and Executive Directors at Modix Plastique Inc., took part in the Plast-EX 2021 exhibition where they discussed with attendees how they work with the most difficult post-consumer recyclate or PCR (such as curbside collection) to create sustainable resins (PCR LDPE/LLDPE reproductions).  
Bob Masterson, President and CEO of CIAC joined Stewart Cramer, Chief Manufacturing Officer at NGen, and Rhonda O’Keefe, Vice President of IP and Contracts at NGEn on a panel titled Strengthening Canada’s Manufacturing Sector: What’s Next. They discussed the post-pandemic changing face of manufacturing, the government’s role in supporting a competitive business environment with lower taxes and trade-friendly agreements, and the role of leading companies in rejuvenating the industry as we move into 2022.
