CIAC at Chemistry Canada Summit and Exhibition

On September 24 and 25, Don Fusco, Director of Government and Stakeholder Relations – Ontario, participated in the 2019 Chemistry Canada conference in Sarnia, Ontario. Don participated in two sessions.

In the first session, “The Impossible Challenge: Crowdsourcing a Chemistry Narrative to Build a better future for Canadians,” Don reinforced the need to raise awareness of the continued investment gap between US and Canada in the sector. He provided a comparison of sector investments across Canada and highlighted the sector’s contribution of solutions that benefit the environment and the economy.

In the second session, Don moderated a panel on “Zero Waste and Creating Value Added Products from Recycled Plastics.” The panelists included Jocelyn Doucet, co-founder and CEO of Pyrowave Inc. and Ryan L’Abbe, Vice-President of Operations at GreenMantra Technologies. Pyrowave and GreenMantra are two Canadian-based innovators of world-leading, advanced chemical recycling technologies. The session covered the current state of our industry’s actions in managing plastic waste – keeping the molecule in the economy and out of the environment.
