THE CHEMISTRY INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF CANADA’S 2014 CHAIRMAN AND MERIT AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) announced the recipients of the 2014 Chairman’s and Merit Awards today.

“The hard work of these individuals, and many others like them, is what makes CIAC the well respected association it is today,” says Richard Paton, CIAC’s President and CEO.  “Our members’ commitment to the growth and competitiveness of a safe and reliable chemistry industry in Canada is admirable and we are pleased to be able to recognize the outstanding work of this year’s winners.”

The Awards recognize individuals from CIAC member-companies whose commitment to support the issues, advocacy and sustainability of Canada’s chemistry industry deserves special recognition.

The Chairman’s Award is given to Larry Masaro, Director, Plant Operations at National Silicates, a world leader in silicate chemistry manufacturing. The award is in recognition of  Larry’s leadership and support of CIAC and its initiatives.

This year’s Merit Award winners are:

  • Mike Burt, Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs, Dow Chemical Canada, for his support of CIAC’s advocacy areas both federally and provincially
  • Richard Gilmer, Tax Compliance Coordinator, NOVA Chemicals for sharing his work in the area of tax competitiveness throughout much of his 34-year career at NOVA.
  • Adrian Michielsen, Senior Advisor, Emergency Preparedness, Imperial Oil for his work on the transportation of dangerous goods (TDG), and theTRANSCAER® and TEAP® programs.
  • Brian Mullen, Senior Logistics Specialist, Supply Chain Transportation Regional Compliance, Dow Chemical Canada for his valuable expertise in TDG, and emergency response

The Awards were presented at CIAC’s Annual Dinner being held in Ottawa, October 22, 2014.
